top schools

One huge consideration all parents have is their child’s education. We all want the best for our children, but not all children can go to the top schools. That’s a shame really, as it would seem it would be possible for many schools to have this distinction. Instead, there are some really great ones, and there are some that are failing miserably. I often wonder why we are so concerned with butting into business in other countries when we need help right here at home. We are going to fail as a nation if our children cannot get a good education. That means all children.

I am very lucky that I live where I do, but this was not an accident. The schools in my small city are some of the top schools in New York State, at least as far as public schools go. I moved here on purpose, even when I wasn’t sure if I was going to have children or not. I knew that if I did, I wanted them to be in good schools. Most of the ones around me are good, but these are the best. I realize that not everyone can just move to where the top schools are though, and if they did, those schools would become crowded and lose their ‘top schools’ status anyway. We may just have to work on getting all schools up to acceptable range.

You can find top schools by paying for them, but not every family can afford this, especially when they have more than one child. Private education is awesome, but it is expensive and not all people live near good private schools. There really is no reason why we can’t find the money to improve our school systems. The US budget is out of whack, and there is so much money that is wasted that could be put to good use. The average citizen probably would not be able to grasp the amount of waste going on with government spending.

We seem to find billions to fund a war. Surely we can find help for our schools. If we don’t take the time to get more schools up to par with the few top schools that we have, we are going to regret it in the future. Children can be intelligent, but they aren’t going to learn as they should without the proper guidance from good teachers in a safe environment. For some reason, these things are greatly lacking.
