Need Cash? Sell Used Textbooks!
Dec 17th
The economy has been hard on people around the country and the world for quite awhile now, and people are searching desperately for any and every possibility they can find to earn some extra cash. The job-market has pretty much dried up, and since everyone seems to be in the same situation, selling things are a bit difficult too. So what’s left? To be honest, we prize our possessions, so even the thought of pawning everything we own tends to be a literal last resort. After that, people usually give up. I know it’s sad to hear, and even sadder being that person.
This kind of economy doesn’t effect just one or two people, but it affects all of them in many ways that were unheard of in the better times. Business people, entertainers, and even students are feeling the crunch. It may seems like an unheard of concept since most students look at the job market and feel a bit helpless. It’s not as much of a stretch as some would think. Students, and former students have a bit of an advantage in situations like these. What a lot of these students and former students don’t realize, is that the majority of them have a good money-making opportunity that they rarely think of.
If you have been to school, or you are still in the process of going to school but have completed a little of it, then you more than likely have textbooks all over your house. Most of them aren’t even of use to you anymore. It’s a great time to take advantage and use them for more than just the knowledge they contain. This is a good chance to rent textbooks to others that can’t afford to buy them new, or to just outright sell used textbooks to the new students at a much cheaper price than they could get anywhere else.
It’s a great money-maker, and there are so many textbooks out of the typical price range for most students that when you sell used textbooks to them, you also become a bit of a hero. If you decide it’s a better option to rent textbooks out, it is good in a lot of different ways. The students that rent textbooks from you would more than likely prefer not to keep them when the school period is over, so it’s a win win situation for you! You will get the books back and be able to rent textbooks to the next group of students that comes along. They save money, and you create multiple streams of income for yourself. Each new group of students in, is a new sort of client for you. As long as the textbook you already own is still in use with the school, you will continue to make money.
Renting is not always the best option, as it does take a lot of follow up form you in terms of whether or not he textbook is still in use. It may be good to just out right sell used textbooks back to the school or to the bookstore where you bought them. A lot of times, when you go to a school bookstore, you will see a vast section of Used Textbooks. Guess what? That’s where they come from.
When a student starts a course, there is a certain budget for everything they will need to complete the term. A very large part of that budget goes to buying books necessary for classes. Nobody ever said they had to be new though. As you have probably already been able to determine, textbooks serve much more use than just the school term you need them for. Some students go back to them to re-learn what they learned the previous school term, and others utilize them for a source of financial income. Income for you, and a better alternative for the students coming into the new term makes the textbooks even more valuable.
So school is a place of learning and a place to move forward in the world with an education and an intelligence that can get you through even the worst of times. With the status of the economy as it has been for a few years now, this can be classified as one of those worst of times. For those that utilize textbooks not only to gain the knowledge necessary to move on from school level to school level, but to also give them a valid source of income from those very textbooks, those students are the ones who will truly excel later in life.
Once school is over, it’s time to put all of that knowledge to sue to give you and your future family a comfortable existence, but comfort isn’t always a possibility in time like these. However, for those that understand the viability of renting or selling used textbooks, it can help make the rough times more bearable. When all else fails, or just out for some extra cash, sell used textbooks.

Selling used textbooks helps other students
Dec 15th
The world would be a much better place if everyone acted in a way that benefited others. There would be much less poverty, much less death, and best of all there would be much more happiness. Some acts of kindness take more dedication than others. Most acts, however, are simple things that anyone can do. These acts take only a few seconds of our time and can greatly help out other people. One such act is selling used textbooks. By selling used textbooks, one is benefiting other students by passing down the savings.
Not only will selling used textbooks help the person whom they are sold to, they will also help the seller. Textbooks are expensive. Upwards of 20 authors can spend years writing a single book and rely on that book for their sole income. Because of this, they have to put a high price tag on their books. Otherwise they wouldn’t make a profit and ultimately, textbooks wouldn’t exist anymore. The high cost of textbooks does make sense, even though most students won’t be able to see past the expensive price-tag.
College is expensive, there is no getting around that. Whether it be the thousands of dollar for tuition or thousands of dollars of housing bills, college is out of reach for many. For many others, it is in reach but just barely. These people will end up working full time while they go to college, which can drastically reduce their GPA. Not only will it make their work suffer, they’re also going to end up very stressed and can sometimes put their bodies at risk. No-one wants to be in any more debt than they have to, and any money paid off on student loans now is a dollar that won’t have to be spent in the future. If one feels like this whole process of college is a bit ridiculous an want to help out, the best thing that they can do is sell used textbooks. These textbooks are much cheaper than their new counterparts and yet they have the exact same information within them. Yes, they can sometimes be damaged and may impair the reader from fluently reading its’ text. However, this is rarely the case.
Even if someone doesn’t care about the welfare of others, they probably care about themselves and their own financial situation. Selling used textbooks doesn’t only benefit the buyer, it also benefits the seller. Let’s say that someone bought a brand new book at 200 dollars, a not-unreasonable price for a textbook. They then used this book for a full semester. After this semester, the book becomes completely useless for the person. Another person enters the scene and plans on taking this exact same class the next semester. He is going to want to buy a used book, especially if his fiscal situation is poor. If the first man sells his book, he will get approximately half of his original price. The next man also saves 100 dollars. Both of them are +100 on their financial scale. Now let’s say that the first man never sold his book. He will be down 100 dollars on his scale, and his friend will also be down 100 dollars because he had to buy a new book from the library due to the lack of used books being sold.
Some people may want to just rent textbooks; this is a good idea as well. Renting textbooks can be beneficial to many parties. The renter is going to save quite a bit of money (oftentimes spending less than he would have had he bought a used book). The rentee is also going to make money off of a book that he bought a long time ago, that he has no use for. So, if one were to rent textbooks, they would be making a good financial decision. After all, some people don’t have the gumption to go out and sell their textbooks. When you rent a textbook, you already have a guaranteed person to buy your book back. In fact, you will be legally obligated to give the book back.

Top ten reasons to sell textbooks
Dec 14th
Selling a textbook that’s already been fully utilized by its’ user is a great idea. Not only will he or she make quite a bit of money selling their textbook, he or she is also passing on savings to the next poor college student. There are 10 good reasons as to why someone would want to sell textbooks. Here they are, in no particular order.
1. Money savings. Textbooks can be extremely expensive. After all, most author’s will spend years and years on their textbooks, and that is their only form of money income. Not only that, but you’re going to have more than on author writing a textbook at a time. Sometimes there are upwards of 50 people writing a book. It’s no wonder that some textbooks are going to cost the end consumer hundreds of dollars.
2. Passing on savings. College is financially difficult on almost everyone. Sure, there are some people who have rich families who will never have to spend a single cent of their own money to get into and through college. Most people though end up paying for college out of their own pocket. Along with tuition and housing, students must all buy books in order to pass their classes. If he or she doesn’t get the book recommended by the professor, chances are they are going to fail. Most homework is derived from textbooks, as well as subject matter from tests. If someone were to neither take tests or do homework in a class, they are going to fail no matter what.
3. Secret messages. Oftentimes people will put hints in their old textbooks when they sell textbooks. If he or she is feeling generous, these hints will help people through their respective classes. When a textbook is sold, you never know if it’s going to turn out to be extremely beneficial to the person who buys it.
4. Less stress on the school library. Oftentimes school libraries will want students to sell textbooks, as it puts less stress on them. Library faculty are oftentimes underpaid, and having a crowded library buying and selling textbooks can be extremely stressful. They are paid by the hour, so having an empty library is much preferable to having a full library.
5. Money savings over renting textbooks. When someone rent textbooks, they save over buying a new textbook. This doesn’t mean that they are getting the best deal, however. More often than not, selling textbooks is going to be the easiest financially on everyone involved because there is no middle man. Sell textbooks to friends or family and make everyone happy.
6. It’s easy. Selling textbooks is a very easy thing to do. Most colleges are very large and have a large amount of students vying to take the same class. After one is done taking a class, they can rest assured that more people are going to end up in that same class later that year. That means that the book that he or she has in his or her hands is going to be worth quite a bit of money. Become an entrepreneur.
7. Rent textbooks can be damaged. When someone sells their textbook, that usually means that they have taken good care of it. After all, it is very embarrassing for people when they have to buy back their textbooks. Plus, it makes it much easier to sell a textbook that is in good condition. When people rent textbooks, they are oftentimes damage. When someone rents a textbook, they know that they can get away with a-lot of abuse. Oftentimes renters are much too busy to check through every page. Selling textbooks means that the book is going to be clean and very legible.
8. Making friends. Oftentimes when one sells a textbook, they do it at a discount. The majority of people feel completely overwhelmed by their class and are more than happy to sell the textbook associated it the day that the class ends. This equates to big savings on the buyers end. The seller is also going to make a new friend that will be very appreciative of his or her textbook that is in great shape.
9. May as well. After one buys a textbook and is finished with the course, what else will he or she do with his book? They make great balancers for things such as couches or pianos. After all, they are quite thick. The option that makes the most sense is selling the textbook. After all, you aren’t going to start a rent textbooks service. The piano can be balanced by something cheaper. Textbooks are expensive, one may as well earn some of that money back!
10. It makes sense. All of these reasons add up to one things. Selling textbooks just makes sense. One is going to make quite a bit of money back on an object that has become virtually useless for him or her. One would be quite dense to just hold onto a book for sentimental reasons. Sell the textbook and be fiscally secure.
