Outreach: Teaching Generosity To Teens
Sep 21st
Teenagers usually have plenty of priorities in mind. Some teenagers put school at the topmost of their list, while some kids would like to hang out with friends more or stay at home. Basically, whatever they do, it is a given that most kids certainly do not have time to help out in communities or volunteer for a certain cause. However, with some exposure and some guidance, you can raise your teenagers to become helpful individuals who are ready to help and give to their fellowmen.
Teaching your teens to become generous and benevolent is not an easy task. It’s helpful if you’ve instilled the values at an earlier age, but if you start today, then a lot of factors will be essential to make sure that your attempt is a successful one. There are numerous ways to help your teen reach out to people, and here’s just one of them.
We know pretty well that teenagers don?t just open up to people. It is very difficult for teens to loosen up and speak what is on their minds. Most adults find this really difficult and even make them want to give up in reaching out to the teens. But all these concerns were can be resolved in Youth Ministry Camps with the help of a christian youth pastor.
Christian youth ministries are not all about learning through lessons and sharing, they also learn by doing. Youth ministry outreach programs are a way for these teenagers to practice what they have learned, as this allows them to involve themselves and participate in issues such as poverty and injustice.
These youth ministries might also have activities such as a youth group outreach. This activity is the sub-group of the ministry which focuses on the youth?s participation on current issues like poverty, injustice and the like. This sub-group is composed of core people that are responsible for planning the youth outreach. Youth ministry outreach activities usually reach out to certain organizations or groups of people. Teens may visit orphanages or communities that have just experienced calamities. Or, teens may start raising funds for causes outside the country ? like what plenty of groups did for African countries or Haiti. Some outreach projects may also involve building houses for the homeless.
Activities such as these are usually done by the whole ministry with the supervision of a Christian youth pastor. Teens may volunteer to help calamity stricken places, or may organize fund raising activities to make money for certain charities or causes of their choice. While outreaches are done usually by the whole ministry, there are also times when a group does the outreach. Youth group outreaches usually involve smaller outreach programs such as volunteer work for orphanages or shelters.
With these kinds of activities, teenagers are shown that they can change the world starting with themselves, and that they do have the chance to do so. If you’re thinking about involving your teenagers in activities like these, contact a Christian youth pastor near you, and let your child learn the importance of generosity and magnanimity.

It is true, the teenage years are the most dramatic and colorful ones in any individual’s life, yet it is also one of the most troublesome. Unlike adults who have gone past that stage and know wiser, teenagers are anxious individuals who care so much about what they do and about what the world will think of what they do.
Still, despite these problems, teenagers still want to exercise autonomy when it comes to dealing with their own personal issues. They want to make their own decisions, and this can cause conflict between parent and child.
As a parent, it is quite important to bear in mind that you were also a teenager once. Ask yourself, how were you during those times? Surely you may have also come across some rough paths and have made wrong decisions when you were a teenager, but you still turned out alright, right? As much as most parents want to think that and give free reign to their kids, there’s also the troubling thoughts about the influences that surround these kids today.
Society creates certain qualifications for teenagers for them to be considered ?in the crowd?. Not all teenagers are able to qualify themselves in these criteria which can lead them into having trouble being in and with the crowd. There are certain moments in a teenager?s life where in they will feel intimidated by other teens and thus, causing them to have low self-confidence. Because image is important during this stage, most teens will do whatever they can to become accepted into their circle of friends ? even if it means doing not-so-good things.
So, let’s sum up this rough cycle. First, teenagers want autonomy. They want to make decisions for themselves. Second, they are faced with plenty of pressures and temptations, oftentimes dictating them to do things that are not supposed to do. So, it’s quite difficult to imagine what they would most likely do just to fit in. In order to guide them to make the right decisions, even as they make the decisions autonomously, you can start at home. Them, you can also introduce and involve them in youth ministry camps. Youth Ministry camps are Christian camps that involve activities which will help them become better people.
One of the activities in this camp are object lessons. In here, teens are given a chance to boost their creativity and play certain roles that best fits them. By this activity, teens are able to express themselves and are able to take the next step in overcoming their respective self-esteem issues.
These camps are certainly effective in helping teenagers. But let us take into account that there is certain level of self-esteem problems that already needs professional attention. Teen Activities That Are Exciting And Creative
Sep 5th
During the teen years, youngsters need to learn to adjust to many pressing changes and demands that are made on them. Making adjustments can be hard for teens, and decisions that they will make during these years are things that they will have to carry throughout the rest of their lives. As parents, we would want to make the decisions for them in order to save them from making wrong ones and from suffering consequences, but we can never do so. Aside from the fact that it’s not right to control our children’s choices, our children will also battle for autonomy. With that, the key is in guiding them and in teaching them to make the right decisions. This method starts from the home, but can also extend to Christian Youth Group Activities. These religious activities are available for teens, and can help influence the way they think about and see life. Youth ministry dramas also include plenty of activities that foster your kids imaginations, helping them release their frustrations, angers, pains and problems in a very creative manner.
Youth ministry skits are among the numerous activities in Youth Ministry Camps. Skits allow teenagers to role play, allowing them to take on roles of other people. An example of these skits is Bully Bob, which is a skit about a bully who loves to pick on little Children. The other character, Little David does not tolerate Bully Bob’s nastiness and teaches him a lesson. This skit is reminiscent of David and Goliath, but also occurs to everyday lives of kids, as bullying is a very common problem in school or in the neighborhood.
Teens? dancing moves will surely be brought out with this one. Jesus Can Dance is a Gospel story like nothing else ? this will be told through dancing, something kinesthetic teens enjoy.
Built on Love is another skit that will test teens? ingenuity. There are two home builders that are required to work hard in this skit, and they better be wise in choosing their building materials in order to win.
Pajama Jones and the lord of Darkness is another activity involving storytelling, the dark, thunder noises and some flashlights. This is fun, entertaining and a really learning activities for the teens.
Aside from skits, dramas and stories, teenagers can also have silly fun. They may have games, relays, treasures hunts and the like. Think of children’s games with teenagers playing. Your teenager will certainly not feel shy in joining these games since they are all surrounded by peers and people their age. Fun team games will teach them the value of camaraderie and friendly team competition.
If you think your child needs a break from the influences of the television, the Internet and from friends in general – why not involve them in Christian Youth activities? Who knows, you kids might learn some important core values or two, and will have fun at the same time.
