The Advantage of Live Performances

by Sarah Wilkiamson

Live performances are a benchmark for good dance schools. It’s a perfect time to see some recitals from the school you are considering and see the end results of their work. The performances show how good the standard of dancing is at the school and teach the children a lot about dance and discipline.

Firstly these performances will give your child goals to work for. This will make them more focused on their dancing and will help them to learn more. When they have goals to work for practice will not just seem like an exercise that has to be done. Your child will see it as a means to an end and put more effort into it. This in turn will help them to learn better and faster.

The live performances also teach the children to deal with nerves and stress associated with schedules. All of which are important parts of a young person’s life as they learn to dance and deal with many other pressures of youth.

Young students will also develop a sense of achievement when they participate in a live performance. This will boost of confidence. Confidence is extremely important in dance, when you dance with confidence you dance your best. A sense of achievement is as good as a reward for a great job and your child will feel good about themselves after reaching their goals.

A live performance is encouragement for all the children involved and will help them learn more as they put their training into action. For a young dancer, there is nothing more exciting than being able to represent your school and teacher in a dance performance in front of family, friends and peers.

Putting on a live performance is a valuable learning experience for any young student. It teaches them work discipline. They know that in order to put on a live show they must do their best and they will need to sacrifice their time to practice for the event. Dancing is a very disciplined art and putting on a live performance brings this out in your child.

Working with others to make a live dance performance is a great lesson in working as a team. Sometimes it is hard for a young child to work as a team with others. When they put on a live show your child will understand how to work together with others to collectively make a great performance. They will understand that not only the lead roles but even the smallest role is part of the big performance and important to the show.

These points illustrate the importance of choosing a dance school that produces live performances on a regular basis. Not only your child will benefit but you and other family members will enjoy watching them perform. It is a proud moment when you see all the hard work your child has put into a performance actually bear fruit.
