The fact that a vast majority of the people conducting searches for free stuff online are students is one that is quite easily understandable. After all, it is common knowledge that most students tend to find themselves facing real financial constraints from time to time, which must somehow be overcome, even it takes getting free stuff from the Internet.

Webpreneurs aware that students are keenly looking for free stuff online have been quick to develop websites wholly aimed at tapping onto that particular need. Some of these websites that offer free stuff to students online either do it directly (on site) or more commonly, just directing students to where they can find such free stuff online. This way, we end up with very few sites actually offering free stuff to students, and a majority just pointing the students to where they can possibly get the free stuff.

Among the free stuff sites that are most popular with students are those offering the students access to various scholarships and grants, with which they can finance their education. With parental incomes going down and tuition fees going up exponentially over the last few years, the search for various scholarships and grants through a student ‘can potentially go through college for free’ is almost desperate. And, to be sure, some students are lucky enough to get reasonably good scholarships and grants through these sites, though it is also noteworthy that some are actually scams.

The other category of free stuff for students that attracts vast number of visits from the students is that of sites that offer free educational resources. In this category, think of the numerous online libraries that offer students access to books they would have to pay a fortune to read on private libraries.

Then we have the various sites offering ‘technology for free’ as another popular destination for students looking for free stuff online. Modern students are almost crazily in love with technology – which unfortunately costs money they don’t have – hence their desire to maximize on any opportunity they can get to use technology for free, available from the various sites offering computer software for free, to the various sites offering free computers (hardware) to students.

There are also those free stuff sites that give people free stuff for taking part in online surveys, and this is another type of websites that is extremely popular with students. Some of the free stuff that these survey sites offer is quite useful stuff (for instance groceries); and students find the possibility of getting this stuff, if only to help them get through the day alluring, as most students tend to take a ‘one day at a time’ approach to living.
