It’s better to seek your friends’ help when looking for used college textbooks. You may know someone who is finished with a particular class who might be interested in selling their old books at a lower price.

Jun 20th
Your parents have said for years that they will finance your college education, but now because of this horribly economy, they too are out of work! So now the only thing that makes sense is to get College Grants. But is it still possible in this bad economy? Well the answer is most certainly YES! but you must remember there are more people out there viving for these college grants today. The number of goverment grants should remain the same at this time, and possibly President Obama will increase them more in the future, but without a doubt Private Non-Profit Organization College Grants will be cut.
Another reason for this, is that many part-time students are now unable to find jobs to sustain or pay for their student loans or college education expenses.
Figures show that in 2008, the number of students who applied for The Free Application for Student Aid rose 10.4% to 1.4 Million from a year earlier. Although The College Board has reported that it will be increasing financial aid available to college students to a total of $143 Billion, it is still important that you follow the tips enumerated below to improve your odds of getting a grant.
Your chances of Getting College Grants in This Recession can increase if you take some simple steps. First always strive to do your best and get good grades in Grammer School, Middle School and most importantly High School. By the time you graduate High School having a much higher grade point average will not only get you accepted in more and better colleges, but you would have increased your chances of getting those scholarships and grants that will pay for it all.
Another way in which you can get substantial College Grants In This Recession is by applying to as many institutions as you can. It would really be a wise decision to sent your application to private universities as well as state colleges. This way you will have a bigger chance of obtaining college grants. If you get accepted in several schools then you will be able to choose the institution that will give you the best financial aid.
Do not be afraid to send requests to top universities because of their expensive tuition fees. Such schools are actually the ones that give out bigger grants. In case you don’t get full financial aid you can also get Merit Aid from private schools.
Finally, if you want to increase your chances of obtaining College Grants In This Recession, you should make sure that all the paperwork and documentation needed for your application are in place. More often then not, Grant Institutions ask for personal ID and proof of registration in the college where you will study.
Also remember just because you are enrolled in a college right now, it is no reason to stop trying to get college grants. Your expenses will go on for four long years so even in your senior year a single college grant will come in very handy indeed. (c) 2009 Mark S. Greenglass Ph.D.
